HDG vs electro galvanizing of wire

My company buys and resells various steel related products. One of these is galvanized cable. Can you explain in basic terms any difference between the two methods? Is one better than the other? What is the difference in weight of the finished product between the two?

Hi, Dale. Electrogalvanizing is the same thing as zinc electroplating. Most people will consider it more attractive than hot dip galvanizing, but the coating is only about 1/10 the thickness/weight of hot dip galvanized, so there is no comparison in longevity.

There are more subtle differences, too. This particular question has been answered more than one hundred times on this site, so you can search the site for those threads if you need additional info. Good luck.
