How to apply PVC powders
April 29, 2009
Hi! I just require to know whether polyvinyl chloride coating can
be done by electrostatic spraying method as in case of normal powder
coating.

Hi, Ashraf. Well, I don't think there is anything unique about PVC
that prevents you from spraying it, but that's not the same thing as
saying that the coating will be satisfactory or that the method will
be practical :-)
Thermoplastic coatings like PVC usually are specified because they
offer properties (like corrosion resistance) not achievable with
thermosets, and this usually implies much thicker coatings. It is
more practical to achieve thick coatings by dipping in a fluidized
bed than by spraying. Good luck.
