Concentrate / Recover Zinc Sulphate from waste stream

March 28, 2009

Dear Sir,

We are looking for a membrane based system for recovering OR concentrating Zinc sulphate from waste stream for following data:

Zinc Sulphate: 150- 175 gms/liter
pH: 4
Fe: 2 gms/liter
Mg: 0.5 gms/liter
Cl: 0.8 gms/lit
Flow rate: 500-1000 liters/hr.

Please suggest suitable membrane based system for above application. Above mentioned flow rate is only for pilot purposes; after the successful trail, our flow rate would be 45000 liters/hr.

Thanking you & best regards,

Deepak Warude

The concentration that you are posting (150 - 175 grams/liter) for Zinc is too high for any reasonable membrane application. Even using NF membranes will not do much concentration. If the level is that high, either evaporation or alternative outlets would be more economically feasible.
