Activating and sensatizing graphite for electroless copper without palladium

Can we activate and sensatise graphite with something cheaper instead of Stannous and palladium chloride method.I am working on graphite contacts project.

Graphite conducts electricity, so, it is theoretically platable by conventional galvanic (electrolytic) methods. It only requires good cleaning.

The problem with graphite is that it is porous and soaks up the different solutions, thus it is a bitch to plate.

Electrolyticaly plating graphite is difficult due to holding powder and passing current in all particals,Any solution to this problem

What if you tried soaking in silver nitrate, replacing palladium chloride.
