Passivating heat tint areas

January 20, 2009

In fabricating frames using 316L pipe with six welded joints there are areas of heat tint which require pasivation. The extent of the welding is minimal, 10 linear feet and restricted to the corners and two locations mid span.

What method of passivation would you recommend to accomplish this passivation?

Thank you

Regards

John

John,

For something like that the easiest thing to use is a citric acid based passivation gel or a nitric acid based pickle paste. Let us know if we can help.
