Need plating of 1018 Shaft to pass 500 hrs of humidity test

I have a 1018 shaft that must pass a 500 hr humidity test. Right now it calls for a high phosphorous .0003" min electroless nickel plate. I'm looking for a lower cost solution that will comply with the 500 hr humidity test. We are also looking for a new supplier to do the electroless plating or suggested substitute.
