-----Removing Light Scratches in Brushed Stainless Steel
I have a brushed stainless steel cooktop that was cleaned with a poor choice of cleaning compound that was too abrasive; some small areas of the cooktop surface now have light scratches and dulled streaks. Is there a fairly simple and safe way I can restore the surface?

We had a soot fall through the extractor from above the Stainless steel gas cooker. I cleaned the mess up with a cloth and unbeknownst to me there were small items of abrasives in the soot which scratched the hob top. This hob is only 2 months old and now looks a mess.
Can you help,
