Restoring satin finish to DeLorean panels
with hand held rotary wheel [Georgia]
July 27, 2008
We would like to restore the satin finish to 3'x5' non flat
stainless steel panels. The profile varies about four inches, flat
surface to curved. Is there a four inch wide,or so, rotaty brush or
other that can be driven with a variable hand drill to refinih the
satin grain?. Your suggestion would be greately appreciated, thank
you.

The original finish was applied to flat panels, probably in a
single pass under a 4 or 5 foot long abrasive roll.
You *might* duplicate the original finish with abrasive wheels or
pads in a hand drill, but it will take lots of experimentation to
find the proper combination of abrasive, speed, pressure.
Infortunately I have to think that it will not be possible to ever
match new pieces, polished by hand, to the originals.
