OBTAINING 4A FINISH IN STAINLESS STEEL
TANKS [Michigan]
July 10, 2008
We are a manufacturer of edm / metalworking filtration
systems.
Due to the closure of a tank fabricator who had been providing us
with stainless tanks,
we have been encompassed with producing these tanks ourselves. We
have an excellent welder, and newer welding equipment; trying to
obtain the same "4A" finish is proving to be difficult. We have
purchased buffing wheels/pads and a rouge bar, all to no avail.
How can I obtain the same grain finish in the corners (near welds) as
is on the front or
sides of these tanks? Do we simply use "Scotch-Brite" type pads in
graduating grades?

It would be easier to give you hints if we could see what you want
and where you are. Can you send some pictures?
