Want to turn knobs from brass to silver
February 24, 2008
I am replacing my cabinet knobs from brass to silver. The brass is coming off and underneath them they are silver. Is there a way to remove the brass coloring?

Try Acetone [linked by editor to product info at Amazon] (nail polish remover), Jessica. There are many different technologies for giving a brass color, but one of them is to use a brass colored tinted lacquer on top of nickel plating. If that is how yours were made the acetone should remove the lacquer.
