Is the Borax used in the Pickling Process corrosive?

I have seen a pickling process in the wire drawing industry where the problem happened was: they used a temperature regulator called Spirax TR121 along with NS valve where the sensor part of TR 121 dipped in Borax Tank got affected (i.e., corroded). Is this borax corrosive? And what is the solution for that?
