-----Home Stripping of Chrome Plated Wheels
Q. I have a set of wheels that I would like to strip and powder coat. The wheels are chrome plated steel. Can I make an "at home" chemical stripper that would allow me to do this? I have a stainless steel tank large enough on hand.

A. Professional powder coaters lightly sandblast chrome plated parts before powder coating to remove the chrome layer and roughen the nickel layer. But they say it takes some practice to get it right.
