-----Need brighter corrosion resistant plating on aluminum alloy
2007
Dear Experts,
I have some difficulty on the corrosion resistant plating on the Aluminum housing.
To obtain corrosion resistant I tried trivalent chromating after zinc-Ni plating
on the Aluminum housing. It was Ok over corrosion, but I have one problem for the
color. It's color is dark and near black. I want the color would be bright.
Does any one who knows the way of getting the color bright?
I have read that trivalent chromate after zinc-iron is better than zinc-Ni is that
right? and what is the color of trivalent chromate after zinc-iron?

Hi there,
Good Day!
The Zinc - Nickel coating is a functional coating and doesn't gives a very bright finish like the other conventional Zinc plating and if you try to increase the brightness by dumping the organics will cause stress in deposit, don't look for the aesthetic values in such coatings the advantage is the superior corrosion resistance.
Alkaline Zinc or Zinc Iron with good Trivalent passivation will give you the desired finish but just check the corrosion resistance depending upon your applications.
