Gold Chemical Film - RoHS Compliant?

We use gold chemical film per MIL-C-5541, class 3 on all of our aluminum parts used outdoors. I've been told this finish is not RoHS compliant? If not, would "clear" be a good substitute?

Clear chromate can be RoHS compliant but is not necessarily so. Mil-C-5541 was recently revised to allow TCP conversion coating in lieu of hexavalent chromate conversion coating. And there are other aluminum treatments that are RoHS compliant if you do not need Mil-C-5541 rating. The TCP coatings cannot be dyed, so gold colored RoHS-compliant, Mil-C-5541-compliant is not possible.
