Oxidation on indoor metal doorknobs

I have 30 year old indoor metal doorknobs that are heavily 'oxidized' from age (It's in a condo). I don't know what kind of metal they are, but is there any way to remove this oxidation?

Hi Kevin. Unfortunately, it's very hard to say what to treat something with when you don't know what it is. Metal polishes that are effective on some materials damage others. But my first guess is that it is brass plating that has worn away. You can't replate it yourself. Try any metal polish like Brasso [on eBay or Amazon] and see what you see after the treatment. Good luck.
