I wanted to know how to obtain yellowish precipitate of gold from cyanide or gold chloride solution. I have tried with some solutions but the gold is always brown in color. Yours Sincerely, Raj Mani - Kathmandu, Nepal ++++++ Hi, If it is gold chloride, add conc. sulphuric acid and boil , god reduces, or pass sulphurdioxide gas into it , or add sodium metabisulphite to reduce the gold in yellow form.or you can also add sodium boro hydride , but reaction is very vigorous.If gold is in Potassium cyanide form , slowely add sulphuric acid into it under fume hood, and heat it, we can reduce gold out of it, see that you perform this GPC reaction in fume chamber to expel HCN gases liberated from it.
