Letter 4007 Phosphate substitute?- We're looking for a substitute for our present zinc phosphate process. We primarily phosphate to enhance the shelft life of steel parts made in-house. This process uses 180 degree F coating bath and hot rinse before and after. Our goal is reduce cost while improving the waste treatment costs. Thanks. jb John Brown
- John, phosphate is pretty basic as far as plating options go. You can try a room temp. black oxide with an oil or wax seal. You can also look at conventional or mechanical galvanizing if the parts lend themselves to that type of coating.
. There is a product manufactured by International Chemical Products, Inc., located at Huntsville, AL, which will replace zinc phosphate (also chromate) and provide a very long term corrosion protection indoors with just the coating, while the surface is totally prepared for any finishing. R. Sen
