Post anodize cleaning

My question is can we clean anodized parts in mineral sprits ?
recently we found that on mineral sprit cleaning anodize plating was flaking off.
what is the root cause of it.

Mineral Spirits

on Amazon
or eBay
(affil link)

I have yet to run into any situation where a properly applied anodic coating "flakes off" I have witnessed flaking coating where a part was not stripped/etched correctly and plating was applied over a previously plated part and subsequently dyed. As far as cleaning with mineral spirits on eBay or Amazon [affil link] , I don't see that as a problem. people clean anodized parts with all sorts of petroleum based solvents everyday, ie: automotive industry.
