-----How to prevent copper plated/copper sintered products from oxidation/finger prints
Q. We are a manufacturing unit manufacturing sintered copper parts. Sometimes our copper plated m.s. sheets/sintered surface get oxidised and many finger prints appear on it making them look very odd.

A. Try to use polishing wax products like "Brasso ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] " with cotton gloves on yr operators hands; careful not to get more fingerprints on in the process. Its a better option than any wet process.

A. Hi Rajeev,
I would suggest you to treat the finished parts in a benzotriazole
⇦ on
eBay
or
Amazon [affil link]
(inorganic compound) which I think will protect the surface of the copper part from oxidation and finger print impression getting black over the duration.

A. You may want to re-look the manufacturing process very closely Rajeev, I wouldn't readily advocate any wet treatment on sintered parts for anti-tarnish and fingerprint removal. However a automatic final dip in oil or wax based product that cleans, protects, and resists handling stains will help as the product rolls off the final press or in between other operations where the product is getting stained. Look at some of the supply houses on this site.

A. Perfectly functional aqueous copper and copper alloy anti-tarnish products are available that typically contain TolylTriazole or BenzylTriazole plus Questex 4SW, caustic soda, sulfite and surfactant. These products are either aqueous used at 1 or 2% b.v. or as powders. They provide relatively long term anti-tarnish protection for properly cleaned surfaces.
