Seeking supplier to provide plating per GMW 4700M

Need supplier to coat steel screw machined part that is 38 mm long and 4 mm in diameter. Annual volume is 80,000 pieces. Plating is "zinc plated per GMW 4700 Black".

The screw machine shop is located in North Branch, Michigan.

What does the M suffix mean in GMW4700M

Q. We have the GMW4700 specification and I can see no reference to any definition of "M" however on several drawings I have seen GMW4700M as the spec for finish. I cannot find a GMW4700M for purchase so I must assume it doesn't exist and therefore perhaps the suffix holds some meaning as a code for color, passivate, sealer, etc. I do not see anything in the GMW4700 to support this theory though.

A google search revealed a few others out there seeking GMW4700M as a finish so I feel I cannot conclusively say it doesn't exist. Either the suffix "M" has significance or some engineer out there made a typo that is spreading.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi. Jet travel and google are wonders of our modern technology. But jet travel spreads plagues, and google spreads typos like the plague :-)
