-----Stats on Chromate Industry for study project
Hi, I'm a business student from the University of British Columbia who is doing a project on the plating industry in Canada. Specifically, I am concentrating on the use of chromate in the plating industry. I am looking for information such as the size and make-up of the industry, key success factors, as well as, the costs associated with using chromate. Any advice regarding information sources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, June, this website is one good source of information.
There are other postings about chromates on this web page, and there is also a list of books and organizations that you could look into using to get more information. You should be aware of a new development in the use of chromates in industry.
One type of chromate, hexavalent chrome, is going to have restrictions placed on it in Europe beginning around 2003. Since many companies are now global companies, this restriction will affect industry worldwide. There will be a decrease in the amount of chromate usage, but surely not a sudden halt of all chrome.
