Restoring brass wash finish on antique hinges [New York]

My husband and I have been restoring an 1866 farmhouse and have beautiful hinges which are Iron with a brass wash. We have a few hinges where the brass wash has completely rubbed off. What can I do to restore the brass wash finish?
