Alodine 1000 specification

2005

I am looking for a process specification for Alodine 1000, the clear Alodine.
Is this described by MIL-C-5541, Class 3 ?
I cannot find confirmation anywhere that this is the case.

I once worked in an anodizing company that treats aviation parts. In that experience, I used the same brand of chemical for clear chem film treatment, but it was in liquid form (Alodine 1000L). This was specified by the customer.

If you visit STINET you can get the Qualified Products List (QPL) for MIL-C-5541. There you will find Alodine 1000 listed as a Type II class 3 coating.

A lot of international and /or military specifications are available via the Internet.
A very useful search site is:
http://assist.daps.dla.mil/quicksearch/fsc_quicksearch.cfm

Off course not all documents are accessible for free but the requested MIL-C-5541 is. If you type the full ID in the Document ID field you'll find it.

Is Alodine 1000 and acceptable alternate for Alodine 1200S?

Hi, Steve. No it's not. They are different materials with different coating properties. But even if they were identical in properties you cannot necessarily substitute them anyway; it would then depend on whether they were both on the Qualified Products List. Good luck.
