Stripping Zinc plating on sheet steel substrate [U.K.]

What is the best way to strip Zinc plating leaving the Sheet steel substrate in a condition where it can be re-plated ?

Immersion in a hot caustic solution or room temperature hydrochloric acid will remove the zinc. Your elecroplating contractor should be able to do this prior to replating.
