Zinc Plating Bath Temperature Problem

Dear Sir,

We frequently face the problem in the finishing. As the bath gets heated up in spite of using zinthobrite of 50ml/Load of 40 kgs.

We also don't get the glossiness on the finished product.

Please advise us on the future course of action.

Best Regards

The addition agent will not reduce the temperature of the plating bath--you need cooling coils. I haven't heard of zinthobrite, but you need to contact the supplier. You haven't provided any details such that anyone could offer specific operating suggestions.

Hi there,

I will advise you to contact your supplier and the technical representative, as now there are specialized products, special additives which will increase the cloud point and even at higher temp you can plate out products with the same brightness.

We used a chiller to keep the bath temp under control. The incoming line water was run through the chiller first then used in the rinse tanks. If you keep the temp under control then extra additives to raise the cloud point are not needed. Hope this helps. Good luck.

You might want to ask the manufacturer about brightener components to add to your bath.

Dear Mr. K.C Saravanakumaar,

Everytime there is a problem with plating, why are always brighteners to be blamed? Platers should change this attitude, brightener is not the only component.

It seems the throwing power of the solution is not appropriate. Check the pH and also the level of Boric Acid.

Pack some activated carbon and filter continuously to remove any sludge. Check for electrical contacts and clean if necessary. If the problem still persists then call for your supplier.
