No expense spared finishes

1999

Hi there,

this looks like the right place... but to quote Basil Faulty's assistant, Manuel, "I know nothing". That said, here is my question:

I am looking for a finish that has all or most of the following characteristics:

black: (not grey or granite or anything other than jet black)
glossy: (but will not fingerprint even in high humidity)
heat resistant: (suitable for electronic components)
flat: (smooth as baby's bottom)
hard: (wont chip if hit with a hammer by my girlfriend)
expensive: (not an issue - within reason)
radar absorbing: (just my sense of humour)

I'd really appreciate the advice from the obviously expert readers of this site. I also need some boxes made and finished if anyone is interested I need 5 initially and perhaps 200 a year - touch wood or whatever the finish is :=)

best regards ds

Black chrome plating might be a good choice. Some black chrome has only a smoked glass look, but some looks almost like lamp black.

Black anodize might be another finish to be considered if the base can be made of aluminum

No, black anodize won't work, it fails the "expense not an issue" requirement  🙂

You won't get many shops that are interested in providing this item. Regards, Tom

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
