Plating of Chromium on Titanium substrates

I am trying to find out what the proper activation sequence is for plating chromium on titanium (if any).

So far what I've come up with is shot blast and apply an immersion deposit of copper form a copper sulphate on eBay or Amazon [affil link] solution. Then I presume one would just plate the chromium over the immersion deposit.

Can anyone tell me if this works, or is there another way to do it?

Ysabel, You can try electroless Ni plating the Ti parts after zincate, then chromium plate, that may give you better result.

Activation of titanium is a problem, and steps might include all kinds of blasting, activation and etches with chromic acid, HF, ethylene glycol, then strikes with cyanide copper, high chloride nickel strikes, fluoborates, heat treatments, and dozens of other schemes, depending upon the alloy.

Any attempt to answer this question will need a lot more information about the part and alloy, and requires attention to detail to set up a meaningful cycle for this very difficult metal.
