Letter 30050 How to stop hydrogen evolution in copper cyanide plating [Ohio]++++ I am working on copper deposition on nickel using a cyanide bath. I see some gas evolving out on the nickel surface. I think its hydrogen and i would like to know of there is a way to eliminate the gas evolution. Chandrashekhar Pendyala
++++ It might be possible to slightly reduce it, Mr. Pendyala, but you cannot stop the evolution of hydrogen . If you could, there would be serious side effects anyway like loss of covering power and throwing power. You might search out some information about the plating efficiency at various concentrations and operating conditions. Hydrogen evolution equals inefficiency, so the higher the efficiency the less hydrogen is evolved.
