Painting a engine block [Texas]

I'm currently restoring /customizeing a 1963 Chevy Belair 2 dr sedan I see alot of custom cars with engines painted the same as the car paint /how does one go about doing this and keep the paint from flakeing off after the engine has been run /because automotive paint isnt heat resistant,,,thanks for any info.
