Nitro-Cellulose Thinner Substitute

What can be used to thin down Nitro-Cellulose lacquer paint so as not to be as thick for airbrush applications? Thanks for any help.

Wouldn't any 'lacquer' solvent work beautifully? Mind you, you could try some aromatic solvents ... and PVC primer (which uses tetrahydrafurane solvent) works quite well on table tennis balls .... which are l00% cellulose nitrate.
