Powder Coating alkaline zinc deposits

When we clear polyester powder coat wire components previously zinc plated from alkaline cyanide free electrolytes, there is a distinct colour change, the components taking on the appearance of an excellent satin nickel after curing the powder. The zinc is clear passivated and this occurs with both hexavalent and trivalent passivates. The problem has also occurred on two proprietary alkaline zinc solutions. The powder coating is essential for the environment in which the articles are used .

Chromates take time to cure, I believe about 24 hours. Until they cure and dehydrate, they have a lot of moisture in the gel. Do you have that 24 hours built into the process?
