Chemical side of plating?

I was wondering if any of you could give me real good books or websites on the chemical side of plating, not so much the technical. Like reactions, why and how things work the way they do? Thanks Barrett R

Personally, I think the best thing I've ever seen for that is the Garden State Branch A.E.S.F. "Electroplating Course Manual -- Basic Practical Electroplating". It will give you all the why's and how's starting at a very basic level, and going as deep as you wish. And it is dirt cheap (the price of printing) because it was an all-volunteer effort.
