Metal coating preventing stray light in the UV-Visible range


Hello to all, I am looking for a coating preventing stray light in the 220-800nm spectral range in an optic system. This coating will be applied on aluminium surfaces by any industrial method. I am not sure that the anodizing coating methods used in the visible range are also good for the DUV-UV range. Thanks, Ori Braitbart

Isn't that what UV curable paints and other polymers are supposed to do, absorb UV radiation. Check with some of the manufacturers or suppliers.

You might be able to get the optical properties with a poor coating. Basically, if PVD coatings aren't properly deposited, they form in an open columnar fashion. While not particularly good for wear performance, the columns form a nice black body. PVD coatings are used extensively for industrial applications, and a number of companies (mostly European) sell equipment. There are also a large number of job-shops that might be happy to deposit a lousy coating for you.

Do we have to special-order and pay extra for this lousy coating that makes a black body or can we expect the job shop to offer the lousy coating as their standard finish?  🙂
