Restoring a Saab Aircraft

Hi I'm restoring a saab jet aircraft from the 60s which is covered with some kind of alclad aluminium. The very thin covering layer is dull and also removed on some places due to corrosion ( the craft stood for 20 years outdoors). This layer also disappears when we polish the dirty areas with the softest 3M pads. So we have to remove all of this layer to get a uniform appearance.

But the luster of the bare aluminium looks really unnatural. Are there any formulas to get this old semi-dull appearance back to my plane ?

The best formula is probably patience. I think nature will dull the aluminum in pretty short order.

I think the aluminium paint is a type they called Sermatel. It usual used for aircraft. If you try to talk with a company in USA by the name Sermatech perhaps they can help you, and you can also talk with a employer wish repair aircraft engine. On my company we have sermatel but we comes from Sweden so that is so far from you. Regards
