Letter 27010 Problems polishing silver [Wisconsin]++++ I have just finished a sterling piece but I am having a tough time polishing it to mirror bright without tiny scratches from the polishing. How do I finish? I am an art student at the University of Wisconsin. I am making a sterling chalice. It is complete except for final polishing and hallmarking. I cannot seem to get a high (scratchless mirror-bright) polish that doesn't have tiny surface scratches on it. I have tried up to Zam polish on the buffer and even hand polishing with velvet and Hagerty, &/or Mother's polish leaves tell-tale signs of the most recent attempt to finish. Is there an extra fine polish or type of cloth I should be using to do this? Is machine better than manual polish? vice-versa? Thanks, Mary Jane Armstrong
