Developer needs to paint anodized aluminum storefront

I have a building with a storefront which I assume is anodized aluminum which has been previously painted. I want to refurbish the storefront at a minimum cost. What is the best paint to use? Do I have to strip the paint there now? How would I do that.

Thanks for your help,

We paint anodized aluminum with a Devoe product. Primer Devoe, Devran 201 primer 2 coats finish Devthane 378 or 379. Works very well.

Hi, Linda. There is almost never a need to strip adherent paint if it's not thick and lumpy. But if the paint is not adherent it must be stripped, as there is no point in the new paint adhering to the old if the old isn't adhering to the aluminum  🙂

Hey Linda,
What we do is recoat aluminum and that's all we do. There are very few products that will work on alum much less anodized. We use PPG products almost exclusively because they are the best on the market and carry a 10 yr warranty on the COAST !.
It's a special process it is not inexpensive.
Good Luck.
