Letter 26495

Formula for preparing NC Thinner and Auto Thinner

(2004)

I would be very much interested in manufacturing and distribute of NC Thinner to Sri Lankan market. I have obtained many formulas for preparing of NC thinner but still not found success. Every time I got complaints that my product is not suitable for thinning of Primers, all kinds of coatings, automotive spray paints etc.

I would be highly appreciated if you could give the best and accurate formula of making NC thinner by using solvents.

Thanking you, Yours truly,

There is nothing wrong with your asking such a question, Mohammed, but my experience from posting 50 thousand questions here is that there is little chance you will get a response. If you describe your non-working formulas and in what ways they didn't work, though, there is a good chance that someone will give you some hints about what you are doing wrong.

Hello Sir,

It is so regrettable to state that this is my second letter to you of knowing a very important matter which effect to my personal life. I wanted to know the best formula of manufacturing of NC Thinner. Kindly give me the best formulation in preparing of a quality thinner both NC thinner (For wood items) and Auto super thinner (For auto vehicles).

Also I am expecting your company collaboration to proceed with these products and any available other manufacturers such as Sealers, Varnishers, Lacquers etc.

Awaiting your response with many hopes.

Best regards, Yours truly,

Mohammed:: as editor of this site I already predicted that none of our thousands of readers would give you the info you requested and I told you why, and I suggested how you could rewrite your question in order to make getting an answer more likely--but you apparently are not willing to do it.

It is extremely unlikely that anyone would spend their career developing such products and then simply give away the formula so that everyone else can take the business and their children go hungry. People don't do that; instead they patent a product or retain its formulation as a trade secret. You need to license the formula rather than expect it for free, although you certainly can read books about thinner formulations and search through expired patents and see if you find suitable info there. Sorry.

Good luck.

You will find that there are a great number of paint formulations, each will have a thinner that is appropriate for that specific paint. Read the can for the recommended thinner. If they only recommend a thinner by product name, they want to sell their material and not have people use generic mixtures that they cannot control.

Hoang, like Mohammed, you say you've tried many formulas without success, but you don't say anything about what they are and in what way they are deficient. Odds are that if someone took their time to offer a formula here, your reply would be that you already tried it and it didn't work. People aren't going to do that. Talk about your formulas and what was deficient, please, and someone will probably help. Good luck!

C'mon folks, this topic has gotten silly now and a total waste of bandwidth. There is no point in repeating what's been already said three times on this letter as each reader ignores it and just posts the same question again and again. If a reader replies with some answers we'll be happy to print it, or if an inquirer wishes to post a detailed question with what they've tried and exactly what the problems were, we'll print that.

But to endlessly print the same very silly request for "a better NC thinner formula than the one I have in mind but which I'm not going to share with you" is just so much foolishness.

HI, I'm totally new here. I wanted to start this business in my hometown but I need people who has got more experience to guide me. As I heard from my friend.

Thinner came in barrel and they mix it before they fill it in small Can and distribute. That's what I wanted to do.

Where should I start?

Thank you

Hi, Prashant. This thread was posted 5 years ago now. I explained 5 years ago why it will never be answered until you reword the question and explain what formulas you have tried, what books or patents you got them from, and what specific problems you have with the formulations. This thread has been read by more than 6000 people, and five years later people just keep posting the same foolish question.

Get a copy of an expired patent, tell us the formulation, and tell us in what way it did not do what the patent claimed it would do.
