Need durable clear coat for steel sculpture details placed outside [Illinois]

+++

I design and make one of a kind furniture and architectural details. I am currently working on a steel awning. Part of the design includes a natural thermal patina. I am looking for a clear coat that will not affect the natural thermal patina during application. In addition, the finish must have the maximum durability and longevity against corrosion due to outside elements in the Chicago climate.

I use crystal clear casting urethane for my sculptures/furniture. Most of my stuff is intended for indoor use but I have made a few pieces for outdoors and that coating has lasted several years..but I have no idea what the expected life will be. Maybe some form of epoxide will work better for you.

I recommend a nylonic clear coat called Nyspace. It is a perfect solution.
