-----Black Chromated zinc in contact with Magnesium.
Q. I would like to know if Black Chromate over zinc plated steel stands up well while in contact with magnesium, or if some type of galvanic corrosion occurs, perhaps due to the silver in the black in contact with the magnesium.

A. Dear Mike,
An awful lot depends on the environment in which the "couple" is placed, is it a moist city environment?, is it a moist marine environment?, is the Magnesium treated in any way?, do the parts rub together?
Describe the part & its use better .
Put together as much information about the part & its use and we can probably give you a fairly good estimate of what to expect in terms of corrosion , but without some environmental input, I am not prepared to "jump in the deep end"

Hi John,
Thanks for responding. What I was wondering was if anyone had experience with Black Chromate in contact with Magnesium, and if so was there any weird effect from the silver to magnesium contact. In the meantime I have been attempting to get some magnesium so I can run tests on my own in salt spray.
Thanks again,
