-----Steel railing finishing
1998
Hello, We are located in Maine and are in the precast concrete business. We also manufacture a large amount of steel picket railings for steps and stairs. Presently we are sandblasting, then spraying on melted zinc, then painting. It's an expensive process. Do you have an alternate process or could you steer us on the right direction? Thank you,
John W. SnoweDo some homework and testing on powdercoat.
The exact paint can be formulated for exactly what you need. High UV resistance is a must.
This stuff is unbelievably tough.
Sandblast is my preference over acid pickel for rust removal. A hot alkaline rust removal MAY work, but it may take a periodic reverse hot alkaline cleaner.
Zinc phosphate and powdercoat.
It is not as good as flamesprayed zinc, but it should be good enough for all but the most demanding applications.

Hi John, I work for an electroplating company. Zinc plating is relatively inexpensive and cosmetically appealing (it is also an excellent corrosion inhibitor). Regards,
