Gold Electroplating of Silver [Alabama]

I have some gold plated silverware that was made by the International Co. Some of the silverware is tarnishing in spots so I presume those pieces need to be refinished. I think electroplated, but not sure. I hope you can help as I would like to have the set in perfect condition before passing it on to my daughter.
