Hard Anodising on Al 6061
[India]
+++
What is the range of Hardness a Hard anodised aluminum can offer?
In what tolerance the dimensions after hard anodising can be
controlled? If we require a tolerance of +/-0.002 mm, will it require
post grinding operation? What are the production freindly techniques
to mask portion of substrate during hard anodising?

Hi, Nagesh, welcome to finishing.com. Could you rephrase your
question along these lines: "We make xxxxxx here, and we have
discovered a problem with xxxxxx when to try to xxxxxx. We tried to
solve it by xxxxx but it didn't work because xxxxxxx, and we think
hard anodizing may be a good fabrication method because xxxxxx -- but
we are worried about xxxxx"? Then I am confident that your
questions would be answered.
I suggest this because many times a relatively easy question goes
unanswered here, and I don't think it's because no one knows the
answer but because they just don't feel like spending their time
helping a stranger when the other person has not taken the time to
offer even a crumb of their own knowledge in return :-)

Hard anodising can be controlled to the accuracy of about 10
microns.Usually this is done with a sample panel working along with
the components and checking the thickness time to time
One of the easiest is to chromic anodise the portion which require
masking for hard anodising. This need some experience.
Proprietory stop off lacquor can also be used as masking for hard
anodising.
