-----Anodizing Corrosion
I work for a company that manufactures titanium surgical components for the Medical Industry (Cataract Surgery). The anodizing we perform, is basically to color code the threaded section of the component, so that the physician can readily distinguish the size and configuration of tool type that is needed for that particular surgical operation. The problem is, a crystal like formation appears on the threaded section during the anodizing process that appears to grow. Analysis of the crystalline substance has the same chemical make-up as the area colored adjacent to the crystalline formation. The actual formation itself, appears to have a dome with the center some-what collapsed indicating a seed or starting point. Beneath the seed or starting point, the base material is slightly pitted. All efforts to completely remove this crystalline oxidation have failed. The baths, filter systems, and electrical systems have all been analyzed and checked for conformance to our validated procedures. Any help in this matter is deeply appreciated.
