Welded spots on stainless steel
[China]
+++
Dear Sirs:
My question is: We use brushed stainless steel sheet to produce
our KITCHEN OIL FUME CLEANER, but there are some welding points (very
slightly), can we use stainless steel brush to make the welded spots
perfect beautiful as original sheet surface?

Thank you very much,

Any SS brushed spot will have a significantly higher probability
of rusting than the rest of the hood. How much? That depends on the
environment and what people clean it with and how often. I would look
at using a very rough scotchbright flapper wheel or similar unit. No
dissimilar metals.

Dear Mr Lu,
I guess this is where art meets science. Unless you have the
proper set of hand tools/grinding wheels and a very skilled hand, it
will be difficult not to damage the original sheet whilst you grind
away at the welding spots. I would recommend that you go for the
welding spots first and finish with fine scratchbrushing as the final
finish.
