-----Want corrosion resistant mirror-bright electroless nickel plating
1998
I am looking for an electroless nickel finish for plating metal parts that will be resistant to a variety of acids.
Also I am looking for a 'mirror' type finish to aluminium with protection
Chris StocktonElectroless nickel can be formulated by vendors in virtually any brightness. There are minor operational penalties for increasing brightness, that you would have to find out from that particular vendor.
Chemical resistance normally increases with a higher Phos content. EN solutions become more picky as you go above 9%. Most have a range that is dependent on plating parameters. 13% can be a real pain if parameters are not very carefully kept.
No EN is completely resistant to nitric acid.
Platinum is about the only electrodeposited metal that is impervious to most acids.
Summary, it depends on what your real requirements are.

I don't have an answer for you on your first request for a finish, BUT, we do aluminum finishing here & for a bright mirror finish on aluminum I recommend Bright Dip & Anodize.
We do this and other aluminum finishes.
