Need ABS Chrome Sprayer

Q. I'm restoring/customizing an old motorcycle. There are some unpainted plastic parts that I would like to have (ABS) chrome plated. This is a small order. I need a source for the ABS chrome plating that will do a small order, (five pieces ranging from 4"x6" to 12"x16") at a reasonable price. I got one quote so far and they wanted more than triple what metal plating would have been. Way out of my budget! Can anyone direct me to a source?

Hi, Don. I don't know about 'triple', but chrome plating on plastic is significantly more expensive than plating on metal because of the many pretreatment steps required to etch, activate, and electroless plate before chrome plating. Maybe the new generation of "chrome-look" paints will be good enough for you. Good luck.
