Welding fume injuries
++
MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN A WELDER FOR 23 YEARS. AFTER A SUMMER SPENT
WALKING LIKE A DRUNK(HE DOESN'T DRINK)WE WENT TO THE DOCTOR. HE HAS
HAD BLOOD WORK ,CATSCANS AND 2 MRI'S WHICH DID SHOW SOMETHING IN HIS
BRAIN---- BUT OF COURSE NOTHING IS WRONG WITH HIM SO I ASK COULD IT
BE FROM WELDING? HE WAS TO QUICK TO TELL ME NO. NOW MY HUSBAND HAS
WORKED IN PLACES THAT WOULLD HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN IN A HEART BEAT IF I
KNEW HOW TO GO ABOUT IT. SO WE GET HOME I GO ON LINE AND FIND
NUMEROUS SITE ON POISONING FROM WELDING AND MY HUS,HAS ALL THE
SYMPTONS OF WELDING FUME POISONING. NOW WHAT TYPE OF TEST DO I ASK
THE DOC FOR AND WERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?? ANY HELP WOULD BE
WONDERFUL.

Wendy, as much as most of us find the tactics of personal-injury
lawyers distasteful, they are always the people to go to first in a
case like this. I don't want to be ungentle at a tough time, but for
your own good I do want to tell you forcefully that every second you
proceed without an attorney, you are wrecking any case you might have
had! For example, you've admitted that you knew perfectly well that
your husband was voluntarily working under conditions so dangerous
that they should have been shut down. We purged your last name and
city to minimize the harm to your potential case but your lawyer
would almost surely be exasperated by your public and unqualified
admission of full knowledge and voluntary acceptance of the danger.
If your family doctor didn't help, the next step is an attorney,
with the hopes that s/he'll find proper doctoring for your husband
and maybe the money to pay for it.
