Cleaning of AISI 316L finished parts
++
Dear friends,
We deal with small parts machined from very thin (about 0.5mm)
sheets of AISI 316LVM. Unfortunately after electropolishing they
require further heavy manipulations. In spite of all our efforts in
keeping parts and environment clean, the final parts result "dirty".
At SEM inspection both organic and inorganic contaminants can be
found: not all of them are soluble in detergents. Our approach is
setting an ultrasonic cleaning procedure based on strong oxidizing
agents. Good results has been obtained with sodium hypoclorite, but
we would avoid chlorine due to the presence of stainless steel. We
are thinking at ammonium persulfate. Any suggestion or comment?
Thanks in advance.
