How to restore copper finish to "like new"

I have large section of heavy copper sheeting that has oxidized to a brown patina. I want to restore it to a shiny new finish, then, decide on a finish. What is the most efficient and cost saving way to clean a large area? I have muriatic acid ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] . Can this be used?
