Electroplating a plastic endcap that will be magneformed [Indiana]

We are currently looking into a electroplating for our plastic end cap. We are concerned with the permeability of the plastic and are considering adding the electroplating to help with this issue. Some say this is not a good idea since it will be magneformed does anyone have any suggestions?
